I am finding that many churches lack healthy accountability structures, including regular evaluations, for their pastors and staff. I think that in a truly healthy church, there will be formal accountability structures in place so that in the vast majority of cases in which a pastor needs to be confronted regarding sin (or normal human limitations), that confrontation will be initiated by a board or superior who has actual authority to correct the pastor. In the case a regular church member chooses to confront the pastor and the pastor is not responsive, there should be people who are actually in authority over the pastor to which that church member can go to. In America, where basically anyone can form a 501c3 and appoint themselves the CEO, spiritual abusive people can start their own churches without the oversight and accountability the position entails.
