You nailed it. I just had a conversation with a friend about working toward better church government systems, but she kept on expressing the basic idea that working toward that goal is useless because of sin and…look how our democracy has crumbled. I’m living in a world in which American democracy held strong against the violent aggression of a would-be dictator, and she’s living in a world in which American democracy has irretrievably fallen apart, evidenced by a stolen election (I’m describing her worldview, not agreeing with it). If the election was what one was living for, and it didn’t go the way one expected, nihilism may be all that’s left. Such a good article — well done.
